State Governments Lay Down COVID-19 Protocols As Domestic Flights Resume Operations

After a two-month long government-imposed hiatus, domestic flights resumed operations on May 25. Domestic aviation operations were initially suspended from March 24 due to the coronavirus pandemic which has infected more than 1,50,000 people till now. However, every state has laid down quarantine guidelines for all incoming passengers to curb the spread of this public health crisis.

Here are the quarantine protocols set by states that every passenger will have to follow once he/she touches down in their city.

Delhi

Thermal screening at all exit points. Anyone detected with symptoms will immediately be isolated and taken to a designated COVID-19 treatment facility.

Asymptomatic passengers will be required to self- isolate for a period of 14 days and inform authorities if they start developing symptoms.

Maharashtra

A 14- day self-isolation period is mandatory for everyone landing at any airport in the state. Passengers will be stamped to verify that they are going to isolate themselves.

People will not be allowed to fly in from containment zones. In addition to this, passengers will have to declare that they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.

Gujarat

The government has allowed all passengers to directly go home if they have no coronavirus symptoms. Although, they have recommended a 14-day self-isolation period.

If anyone starts developing symptoms, concerned authorities need to be immediately informed. All those having mild symptoms, will be given an option of self or institutional isolation.

Rajasthan

14-days self-isolation is mandatory for everyone. People visiting Rajasthan for less than a week and with a declaration of testing negative for COVID-19 will be exempted from home quarantine.

A consolidated database will be maintained and it will contain phone numbers and address of places these people visit. Symptomatic people will immediately be quarantined.

Punjab

With domestic flights resuming operations on May 25, all travelers bound for Punjab will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival. Also, a 14-day self-quarantine period is compulsory for all of them.

Uttarakhand

According to the standard operating procedures, all inbound passengers are required to undergo paid institutional quarantine at designated COVID-19 hotels. All those confined to these facilities will make their own payment. Although, the tariffs will be set prior to their arrival.

Himachal Pradesh

14-day IQ quarantine mandatory for passenger flying in from red zones. However, anyone coming in from a red zone has been subject to a COVID-19 test within the last three days from the date of arrival and has tested negative, will have an option of not staying in IQ quarantine. Also, Aarogya Setu app also needs to be downloaded on their smartphones.

Dharamshala administration wants people with valid address proof to book tickets. Also, they will have to be in possession of a district entry-pass.

Haryana

Passengers will not require passes to move around. Instead, their e-ticket will be the pass used for traveling from the airport to their home. If someone starts developing symptoms after boarding the plane, he/she will immediately be subject to a 14-day institutional quarantine period.

West Bengal

On arrival, everyone passenger will be subject to screening. Asymptomatic people will be asked to self- quarantine for a period of 14 days. Also, anybody developing symptoms will have to contact a local medical officer or ring the state call center.

Odisha

7 day institutional and home quarantine will be compulsory in rural areas. Whereas, in Urban areas, a two-week institutional isolation period needs to be enforced. People visiting for a period of less than 72 hours will be restricted from any such restrictions.

Bihar

Domestic travelers will be placed under home quarantine. The two-week quarantine period will be payable.

Uttar Pradesh

People visiting for less than a week need not be subject to any form of quarantine. Everyone flying in will have to register everyone traveling along with them on http://reg.upcovid.in and give out all details.

Assam

The government will place flyers under a two-week isolation period which will equally be distributed between home and government facilities. People returning the same day will not be quarantined.

People visiting for less than a week need not be subject to any form of quarantine. Everyone flying in will have to register everyone traveling along with them on http://reg.upcovid.in and give out all details.

Assam

The government will place flyers under a two-week isolation period which will equally be distributed between home and government facilities. People returning the same day will not be quarantined.

Tamil Nadu

Everyone inbound flyer needs to furnish their information on the TNePass portal. The flowing link https://tnepass.tneaa.orq can be accessed to register. They also need to select their destination airport in Tamil Nadu.

Kerala

According to the state government rules, everyone will have to register on the official online portal and self-isolate for 14 days.

Karnataka

Passengers coming in from Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan will be subject to 7 days IQ and 7 days home quarantine. People from other states will have to isolate themselves for 14 days.

Pregnant women, senior citizens, children below 10 to be exempted from such restrictions. Businessmen will not undergo quarantine if they bring negative test results that are no more than two days old.

Goa

Flyers who fail to furnish a negative COVID-19 certificate will have to undergo a test i.e. payable. He/she will be self-isolated till the time results don’t come back.
