There are times in life when you want to escape from reality and give yourself a break. Other times, you’d just want to feast your eyes, right? I like to travel by the same token. Of all the places I’ve travelled, Goa has been by far the most treasured destination. Soft sand hugging your toes, the warmth of the sun and the sound of the ocean waves. What’s not to love? Tucked into the southwestern corner of India, it might be the smallest state, but it is just the right place to let your hair down and have a great time!
My first intention to visit Goa was a hit!
Goa is probably the only destination in India that is slandered sarcastically because of the constant cancelling of travel plans. Why is it that 99% of the travel plans to Goa never succeed? Not the first time, at least. But my situation was entirely different. My trip to Goa was sneaky and in fact, my first-ever time to visit it! Yes, you read that right. The fact that my first-ever plan to Goa was successful actually fills me with pride.
My visit to Goa was only a two-day trip and I spent these days in the North Goa. We were kids and staying in a hotel was not something that we could afford then. Thus we stayed with one of the locals there. That was probably the best thing on our trip because staying with the locals offered us an authentic experience.
Our Goa exploration started with Calangute. It was the closest to our stay and hence our first port of call. I still remember the amount of excitement I had with perhaps a bottle of Goa’s favourite chilled beer King’s in my hand and the sight of the beautiful sea! It was my first time on a beach. You could see my eyes sparkle like that of a baby at the sight of something entirely new, something she’d never seen before. Pristine blue waves and that golden sand, ugh! From that day till today, beaches have been my jam.
The weather that day was a bliss and I could lay there in the sun, getting tanned all day. But since we did not have a lot of time on our hands, we decided to head to our next destination, Anjuna Beach. A much calmer beach compared to the other beaches in the North, Anjuna is a beautiful stretch of coastline. We stayed there till the sunset and oh was the sight of the fiery red sky beautiful!
Candolim and Arambol were our stopovers the next day and they were worth every dime! And as night fell, we had to paint the town red, being in the Party Capital. LPK Waterfront was our host for the night. It was one hell of a night owing to the amazing food and drinks and the hottest music!
The inevitable end
The following morning, we had to make our return. We bought some beers and boarded the bus to Panaji from where we were supposed to reach Bangalore. And that’s how an epic trip came to an end! Though it was a short trip, it always had a special place in my heart. So, now that you’ve heard my Goa story, I would love to know yours too! Lemme know in the comments below about the time your Goa plans were successfully executed.
